If you owe any assignments, use this time to complete them.

Homework due Thursday:

Take a spelling pre-test and turn it in.

Write one sentence for 15 of your words. You choose which 15 you want to use.

Qur’an On One Side, Sunnah On The Other

Quraan
on one side
of my heart
Sunnah
on the other
I can’t function without either
Eemaan
pumping around
my body
keeping me
active
and alive

Quraan
on one side
of my heart
Sunnah
on the other
My brain working
with a rhythm
Eemaan
rushing through
my veins
keeping me
stable mind
and body

Quraan
on one side
of my heart
Sunnah
on the other
My heart
functioning
because of Deen
Eemaan
present in the
bloodstream
Keeping me
elated and serene

My Chance is Gone

I’ve gone away
No one will ever see me again

I wished I prayed
But I forgot and never cared

But look at me now
I never been so afraid

Standing in front of my God
With tears running down my eyes

Two books opened out in front of me
I’ve never seen so many pages

I always thought I was good
But it looked like I was so bad

I tired and I tired to tell Allah  (*I think he meant tried and tried)
That I’m sorry

If He would send me back
I’ll change completely

But there is no more chances
I should have been a better Muslim

The Signs on Earth
Showed me that Allah was real

But me thinking stupid
I never thought it was real

That’s why I’m here, where I stand
At the gates of Hell

I cried and I cried
But no one is going to help me now

to read another nice poem by Shel Silverstein. The title of the poem is “The Giving Tree”. You can just read the text and skip the video. There was background music, so I paused it and just read the text. Enjoy the poem and think about what moral you can learn from it. We’ll discuss it next week, inshaAllah.

Write your new spelling words five times each and complete the worksheet I handed out in class today. See you Monday, inshaAllah.

Look up a brief definition. I know there are more words. You only have to memorize the 15 basic words on the list. However, the challenge words are good to be familiar with. You never know when one of them might pop up as a bonus on a test. (HINT)
